Agree (or at least sympathize) with a lot of this, but (painfully) adhering to my personal rule of thumb to stick with any new Windows OS for at least two weeks (as in, use it exclusively) before jumping back - I often find that I've grown accustomed to the new OS, and while I can usually honestly say that the old OS did some things better, the new OS often has improvements that aren't available in the old OS and are useful enough to keep me.

btw, I come from the "liked Windows 7, LOVED Windows 8" camp.

WiFi and how much traffic you used can be found under:

Start -> Settings -> Network & Internet -> Data Usage

You get information about how much traffic you used thru Wi-Fi and Ethernet.

If you click on Usage details, you can even see how much traffic each app generated.

Isn't this nice from Microsoft? *really

If it wasn't for Start8 I would never have used 8 or 8.1

I'm lucky to have some of each OS, although I have just retired my last XP. I am keeping two copies of W7 and one 8.1. The 8.1 has been upgraded from one of the earliest W8 cheap upgrades from XP and has been one most reliable operating systems that I have ever had. Although I have been using W10 since it first came out, I still find 8.1 easier to use.

I feel the same about Classic Shell, And will probably continue using it in Win 10 once I upgrade

  7. For any Tech trying to assist someone with 8, 8.1 or 10, the Classic Shell is a gift from Above.
It has so many features for customizing how Windows looks and runs, that it can emulate any OS from XP on up.

Running on Windows 10, Classic shell can be shut off by a simple Right click on the Start button and then a click on "Exit".
That allows full access to all the Windows 10 settings, like setting default apps, etc. For some setting in Win-10, you must be able to access the "Settings" app.

Many things that we used to do from the RUN box, (not present in Windows 10) can still be done, but somewhat differently.
To be able to RUN an app like "MSCONFIG" I just use the Ctrl+Alt+Del combination, sometimes called the three finger salute.
That brings up a small menu where I can select the "Task Manager". Then in Task Manager, click "More Details" in the lower left corner of the window.
Then click on "File" (upper left) and "Run New Task" and VOILA!, there's our old favorite RUN box.
Once I found it, I've used it a lot, while setting up Windows 10.

    Cheers mates, and Happy Computing!

    *Cool

Why don't you use the shortcut <Winkey>-r, that's much faster.

Right click on Start button has a menu for many things including Run command.

In addtition to Rudy & Mike above. If you use the Run command often then create a shortcut for Run command using:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{2559a1f3-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}
Put it on taskbar/start menu or right click context menu

(snerk) I like it, but if GM sent me a Camaro without a key and a starter (for free, since I signed up for the early release), hey, I'll wait for an aftermarket starter and I'm not afraid to try to hotwire the thing after that *Smile
