  1. Why I have a lot of Windows and background processes? What apps to uninstall?

Hello, I have been using my new laptop for a few months now, and I do not know if there is stuff I need to uninstall. I am uncomfortable to see that I have a lot of background and windows processes, are these normal? I only use my laptop mainly for school purposes (anki, Microsoft office, evernote) and some hobbies (garena, genshin, steam, discord, taiga).

I want to clean and made my laptop's privacy and files secure. I also want to delete any apps/ programs that I do not personally need, but at loss on what to uninstall for fear that I might unstabilize the Windows or some sort. Please help!

How do we stop the Photos app from running as a background process and consuming a lot of memory?

We understand that not all of users are using the Photos app on Windows 10, if not very often. If you don't want this app to be running on background when not in use, there is a way you can turn this off. Kindly follow the steps provided below:

    • In Cortana, type Privacy Settings
      and press Enter.
    • Look for Background apps.
    • Look for Photos in the list.
    • Flip the switch to Off.
    • Restart your computer.

After you restart your computer, you can check if the Photos app is still running in background. You can use these steps to turn off any running background applications as it is not limited to Photos app alone. In this way, you can conserve a lot of power
    and process allowance.

Kindly let us know if this helped you resolve your concern. If not, feel free to post back so we can help you further.

How do we stop the Photos app from running as a background process and consuming a lot of memory?

    Hi Barry,

Software conflicts can be one of the possible reasons why you are experiencing issues with stopping the Photos app background process. To isolate this concern, we suggest that you perform a
clean boot before ending the background process. The link provides further information about how clean boot
works and the steps on how to perform it on a Windows 10 device. Once your device on clean boot, end the background process of the Photos app and then restart the device normally. The step on how to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
is also available on the link that we provided.

    Update us with the results.
