Windows 10: Why is a security scan popping up while I am on facebook?

I already have a security / anti-virus on my computer so I do not use the one that came with Windows 10. My anti-virus has auto updates and scans so that it is always up to date. I have had my computer for 3 years and have never activated the security program. It simply pops up, interrupts what I am doing and starts scanning my computer and I can't stop it except by shutting down my Microsoft edge, even though it has a stop that just pauses the program it never really stops unless I shut my internet down

Pop Up security warning

Good that you didn't click on anything and that you didn't call that number. That what you were seeing are fake alerts which try to trick you into calling some obscure companies who then will try to sell you their unneeded services/products.

Please read the following article which describes in detail various methods how to get out of such pop ups. The article also mentions methods how to prevent these kind of fake alerts.

As a precaution, I just did:

And if anyone wants to take the precautionary action of logging out of Facebook, they should visit the “Security and Login” section in settings. It lists the places people are logged into Facebook with a one-click option to log out of them all.

because it was quick and easy.
