Cortana no longer search my computer

Hi Bonnie,

There may be a chance that Cortana has encountered a conflict at the time that an update was installed or can be due to a possible broken system components.

To have this issue be resolved, we suggest that you try reinstalling Cortana
using an elevated Powershell prompt. Here are the steps:

• Type Windows Powershell in the search box from
  Start. Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator.
• Copy or type this command:
  
  Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  
  
• Press Enter and close the window.
• Restart your computer.

Cortana doesn't find files, but finds programs, apps and settings

My Windows 10 Cortana used to work fine, and would find all categories on my local machine. At some point around the Anniversary Update Cortana would no longer find files, but programs apps and settings all come up correctly. I'm not exactly sure at which
update or patch this happened, but around that time.

Windows Explorer Search works just fine and finds all files. I've already rebuilt the index file and run the search troubleshooter to no avail.

Any suggestions ?

Cortana and Search Box no longer working after windows refresh

Thanks for your quick response. To answer your questions:

• Per your suggestion, I tried Safe Mode. The problems still existed in Safe Mode. As a side note - I realized in the process that my power button has disappeared from the sign in screen, so I had to activate Safe Mode from Settings. Not sure if that is
  related to the Cortana issue or not.
• I ran sfc/scannow. It came back that there were some corrupted files, but they could not be fixed. I restarted the computer, and the search bar/Cortana still wouldn't work.
• I ran all three Dism prompts and they all came back as having successfully completed. I restarted the computer, and the search bar/Cortana still wouldn't work.

What would you suggest as a next step?
