Windows 10: Why is Defender scanning my excluded work?

I'm following directions to build Mozilla Firefox. They tell you to exclude both their build tool folder, and the source code folder. I did that... Even made an empty folder for the source code as Defender wouldn't let me add an exclusion on something that didn't exist. Some of the tests might look like a virus, and those are expected.Now I'm checking out the code, using their "bootstrap.py" script, and I see "Antimalware Service Executable" aka Microsoft Defender Antivirus Service using 30-35% of my CPU. Shouldn't the exclusion stop their tools from watching this process?I'd paste in w

This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Search and open Schedule tasks.
  
• 
  In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
  Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.
  
• 
  Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.
  
• 
  Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.

Is there a way to keep those excluded folders intact while using full scan with Windows Defender?

I have several folders excluded from being scanned and it works well with scheduled partial scan. But when i use full scan it just sweep through my whole excluding list. How can i avoid that?

 

Windows Defender - Exclude network folder "file: \\;LanmanRedirector\"

I have a network folder \\NAS\NAS Storage\... which is also mapped to the drive letter Z.

My current Windows Defender exclusions

By typing in Windows Security in the start menu it brings me here.

I have excluded both of those locations shown in step 4 below. Here I chose folder after pressing the + button at step 4.

Question

After excluding both the Network Location and the mapped drive, I thought that that would exclude that whole thing but now I'm getting this location \\;LanmanRedirector\;Z... showing up. Is it possible to exclude this as it won't allow this path in the exclusion section?
