Windows 10: Why is everything using so much cpu usage?

So I've had win10 since release, and nothing ever even took more than like 5% cpu, and today spotify is using 30%, firefox is jumping around 15 to 30%, my games are taking around 40%.


I havent seen any new windows updates, was anything changed to cause this or what could cause this? The only thing I downloaded lately was a nvidia update but I don't know if that could cause this.

You may run the System maintenance troubleshooter, install all the patches and available updates from Windows updates.

Try the followings steps to run System maintenance troubleshooter:

• 
  Click "Search" and type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and hit enter.
  
• 
  Click “System and security”
  
• 
  Select "System maintenance"
  
• 
  Click next to run the troubleshooter.
  
  
  
  Now try to login again and see if you see the same behavior in Task manager.

So I don't know if this has always been a problem for me, but when I upgraded to Windows 10 I get a pop-up notification saying that I am using most of my memory. This happens within 5-10 minutes of booting up, even if I am not using anything. I go into task
manager and the thing using most of my memory is "System." I have a very good comp with an i-5 at 3.6 ghz, MSI Z-97 Gaming 5 motherboard, and a MSI R9 270 graphics card. I am a noob so I really don't know what to do. Any suggestions will help. Thanks!

Best to list system specs, either fill them in here.Knowing this can help us. Regularly closer to 100% would be considered high,
then would be an indication that there is something going on in the background that is consuming too much processing power, the background activity may be produced by a virus or malware, by hardware specs being too low for the resource-heavy software the user is trying to run. Windows registry corruption or not properly configured system are some causes also.

If it was too high the PC would freeze,randomly freeze or hang, programs would crash.

Check Task Manager startup tab for too many running processes, check process tab and details tab. Did you update system drivers since upgrade to Windows 10 from PC manufacturer's web site ? Run a full scan for viruses and malware, not sure what you use.

Run System File checker at Admin command prompt, copy and paste, press enter, let it finish
sfc /scannow
