    AppData WorriesMicrosoft Excel is doing strange things to random entries in my spreadsheets hyperlinks.This is what an original entry of a hyperlink looks like:Then there was an occurrence that caused clicking on a hyperlink responded like this:So I looked at the underlying hyperlink and found this:So, in order to regain access to my documents I copied my entire ResearchMaterial into the AppData\Roaming folder.   2. How to access appdata folder

    Hi Jaden,

    Thank you posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem.

    I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Write in the search box the following: “%appdata%” .
    • After the search is finished left click or tap on the folder that the search feature found.
    • If it takes you to the following path: “C:\Users\The user that you are logged in with\AppData\Roaming”.
    • It means that your folders are still there but they are hidden.
    • Click on “View”.
    • Check the box “Hidden items”

    Note: Above link also refers to the Windows 10.

    Windows version 1809 - excel displays new comment instead of insert comment

    Did all of the steps you suggested and the drop down list still does not show "insert comment" HOWEVER when I select "new note" from the dropdown list, it works the same as "insert comment". I think the engineers changed the title. Also at the top
    of the excel screen is a field "tell me what you want to do"; if you type in insert comment, the insert comment window comes up and looks exactly like the window when you select "new note". As you suggested, I will send feedback to the engineers. Thank

    I suggest you to perform System Restore on your computer and check if you are able to get back the AppData folder.



    System Restore brings a system to an operable condition after a disaster so that it can again accept and process data.



    To perform System Restore follow the step provided below.



    • Press Windows Key + R Key
    • Type rstrui and press Enter.
