Windows 10: Why is "gedit" not free?

"gedit" by gnome is an open source text editor but on ms store it is listed with a price. Why is it so?

I wanted to install a free cross-platform text editor. The choice fell on the well-known to me "Gedit". I found out on the official website that it can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. But I was surprised that here it is paid. My question is why are you charging money for a free product? Do you donate this money to the Gnome Foundation or leave it with Microsoft?

I will buy this application because I need it and the price is low. But if you keep this money for yourself - you are committing a moral crime, in my opinion. I am outraged.

 

Gedit Plugins 'grayed out' when clicked to activate (Windows 10)

I have installed Gedit 2.30.1 (32 bit) on Windows 10.

Problem: When I add any external plugin to gedit, I can see the plugin listed in the preferences option, but it gets grayed out when clicked.

Example: The regex search plugin.

Method of installation: Unzip the plugin, move the regexsearch.gedit-plugin file and regexsearch directory to G:\gedit\lib\gedit-2\plugins.

Launch gedit-> edit menu-> preferences -> Plugins -> Click on regex search

Observation: Plugin gets grayed out. Fails to load.

Message printed on cmd.exe: (When launched from cmd.exe)

What could be the problem?

 

How to call external tools in Gedit on Windows 10?

Version: Gedit 3.20.1 (64 Bit)

OS: Windows 10

Problem: Cannot see the External Tools plugin in preferences option. The built-in plugin python console is already activated (checked) but I cannot see the console in Gedit.

So, how do I run external tools in Gedit on Windows?
