Windows 10: Why is it when I open the MediaCreationTool and hit install on usb for other pc it then say...

USB has 15gb out of the needed 8 and I even updated the laptop to try and see if it’s because it saw two drives without windows 10 but that didn’t work

MediaCreationTool on USB

My computer has not been booting properly, and I was told the best option was to install Windows on a USB using MediaCreationTool and go from there.

However I'm only able to get onto my desktop using Safe Mode with Networking, and whenever I click setup on my USB it says that I can't use Safe Mode. How can I use this then?

 

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

Thanks for getting back to me.

The USB was created by Microsoft's MediaCreationTool. (I have done this many times just in case too). As was the DVD which I have had for a while, and other pc's boot off this.

I will try your suggestions. But yes either USB or DVD was at the top of the list for the BIOS of course.
