Windows 10: Why is Microsoft Family all of a sudden requiring my child to ask permission to use the...

My child is set up in my Microsoft Family and I have removed all of her time limits but she still has to ask to use the internet. I've removed her as an admin on her computer as instructed, but this still is not fixed. It doesn't matter if I set time limits or remove them, she still has to ask.This just started about 2 weeks ago. Prior it worked fine. She is using window 11 on a PC.

Unable to remove child account from Family

Thanks Elise. Your suggestion worked. I contacted live chat option via "Get Help" app.

Just for others who read this in future I had performed the following steps to solve the issue.

1. Log into Microsoft Family Safety
   
2. Select 3 dots on the top right of child's card & select "Remove consent for this child's account"
   
3. It then warns, "You are about to remove parental consent for this child. They will no longer have permissions to access certain Microsoft sites and services."
   
4. Click on "Remove consent" button
   
5. Go back to Microsoft Family Safety home page. Wait for few seconds for settings to reflect. The child account will disappear from family home page.

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing the issue again.



Just to narrow down the issue, I suggest you to
follow the methods mentioned below.

Method 1

1. Login to
   https://account.microsoft.com/family/ with the Microsoft Account and check if it says Adult/child account.
   
2. After checking the credentials, see if it is part of a family then remove it from the family group and check the status of the issue.
   

If the issue still persists, refer method 2.



Method 2

I suggest you to create a new user profile in Windows 10 and check the status of the issue.

Microsoft Family Safety removing a child

Removing your child from the Microsoft Family will not remove them from the PC or affect their personal files, it just removes the Microsoft Family restrictions from your child's account, so they no longer require permissions from the Family organizer.
