Windows 10: Why is Microsoft security blocking my display driver?

When loading a game my Nvidia display driver won't switch display drivers and I get a message saying that microsoftsecurityapp.exe is blocking the driver display.

Display driver not supporting and device manager not showing Display adapter option

This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

• Incorrect settings.
• Corrupt or outdated display driver.

Try the steps listed here and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to download and install all the available Windows Updates including Optional Updates. Check if it helps.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, i suggest you to uninstall and re-install latest display driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall display driver.

• Right-click on the Start Button and click on
  Device manager.
• Double-click on Display Adapters to expand.
• Right-click on the display adapter driver that is listed and select properties.
• In the window opened, click on drivers tab.
• In the drivers tab, Click on Uninstall option.

Now restart your computer and check, if the problem persists try step 2.

Step 2:

Re-install display driver from the manufacturer website.

Issues with display driver and Microsoft Edge after installing Windows 10

  When exactly you get ads? Is it while opening any particular website?
  
• 
  Are you getting ads as pop-ups?
  
• 
  What is the make and model of the computer?
  

Method 1:

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install latest display driver from the computer manufacturer’s website and check if it helps.
If Windows 10 drivers are not available, I would suggest you to install latest driver in compatibility mode.

To install the display driver
in compatibility mode follow these steps:

a. Download the latest display driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

b. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

c. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

d. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and
select latest Windows version from the drop down list.

e. Let the display driver install and then check the functionality.

Method 2:

If ads are coming as pop-ups while using Microsoft Edge, I suggest you to block pop-ups and check if it helps.

Microsoft Basic Display apdapter is blocking my nvida update

As per the description, I understand that you are experiencing issue with the Microsoft basic display adaptor is blocking the NVidia update in the system.

Method 1:

Run inbuilt Hardware & Device troubleshooter


Let’s try running inbuilt Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to get the problem automatically detected and fixed. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed
correctly.

  Press Windows + W keys on your keyboard to get the search option.

  Type Troubleshooting and click
  Troubleshooting.

  Now click on view all option.

  Click on Hardware and Device and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.
  

If the issue persists, follow method 2

Method 2:

Step 1: Update the Display driver.
Please follow the steps given below to update the display driver.

  Click Start and go to

  In the Run prompt, type
  devmgmt.msc and then click OK.

  Device Manager will open.

  In Device Manager
  expand Display adapters.
  
• 
  Right-click the display driver and click

Step 2: Check if there are any updates for display drivers available in Optional Updates; this might fix the issue. Refer to the following steps.

  At the Start screen, type Windows Update.

  When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.
  

Step 3: If the issue persists, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Display driver. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the display driver.

  Right-click the display card driver and click
