Windows 10: Why is Microsoft shipping Windows 11 on exFAT format pen drives?

Hi, this is my use case:- Equipment: brand new hp OMEN16, UEFI and FreeDos- Pen drive: brand new Windows 11 boot files purchased from the windows storeWhen I try to boot my OMEN from the pen drive, the OMEN does not recognize it. I spared 1 day looking for a solution. I found that I needed to disable secure boot to boot from the pen drive, this was easy, but when you disable secure boot in new UEFI systems, they automatically enable the legacy compatibility, thus they do not recognize exFAT formats.The solution is to buy a new pen drive, format it in FAT32 and copy there all the content of the

Formating to exFAT

Hi Taylor,

If you want to format an external hard drive or USB flash drive in exFAT, you can follow these steps:

• Press and hold Windows key + x on your keyboard. This open the context menu.
• Select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type format g: /FS:exFAT and then Enter to begin formatting the G drive as exFAT

usb drive broken after trying to format it as exfat

I needed my 64gb usb thumb drive at full capacity after using it as windows format drive which made it 32gb drive. Windows showed a window saying format failed while I was waiting it to be in exfat format. I tried to use disk manager and list disk thing but It doesn't show up anywhere. Windows 11 just deleted it

 

exfat format external drive with all folders modified dates not updating in windows 11

The external drive is exfat format and plugged into a MS Window 11 computer. Whenever, the content changes in the exfat format external drive or folders, the modified dates are not updating in MS window. Only NTFS format external drive will not have this problem. Why is this so? How to solve this?
