To anyone who works at MS. I don't want your trash apps every update. I don't need them. This is invasive and I'm a little more then just unhappy. Give me a option to not have your unwanted trash and stop forcing me to have it without being able to simply uninstall it.

Why do you think we want this cookie cutter BASIC garbage?

I now have to download 3rd party programs, edit reg. files, do commands and several restarts to get rid of this MAC mentality poison from my PC... TY for wasting my time with your updates.

    :)

  3. I don't want 10

    Hi,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community and sorry for delayed response.

As per the issue description you don't want Windows 10 right now and willing to remove that Windows 10 icon from the taskbar.

This can be done if the update which is responsible for this icon is either uninstalled from your system or if it is hidden. So, first I would suggest you to uninstall
KB3035583 update and then hide it. Hope this would resolve your issue. in future if you want Windows 10 just install this update and you can upgrade to Windows 10.

To check if the updates is already installed:

    • Open Installed Updates by pressing
      Windows key + X
      . Select Control Panel
from the list, clicking Programs, and then, under
Programs and Features, clicking View installed updates.
    • Click the update KB3035583 that you want to remove, and then click
Uninstall. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

You can refer to the below mentioned steps to hide an update.

    • Press Window key + X.
    • Select Control Panel from the list.
    • Under view by option select large icons.
    • And then click either Windows Update or
      Microsoft Update
      .
    • Now click on important updates available (recommended).
    • Click to clear the check box that is next to the
      KB3035583 update.
    • Expand the KB3035583 update that you want to hide, and then click the "Don't show this update again" check box.
    • Click Review and install updates.

For more information you may refer to the suggestion of Jose Antonio replied on
    February 10, 2012.

  4. why is Microsoft so pretentious... I don't want your BS apps every update.

I do not want to remove Edge, but I am frustrated by Win 10 resetting my defaults every time there is an update

I don't want to have to continually adjust my default settings every time Microsoft releases an update to Win 10.

OK, so maybe is a minor thing, but it is really irritating:

    • I want my Adobe Acrobat Pro to be the default for PDF files, NOT EDGE.
    • I want VLC to be the default for Audio and Video files. NOT the Windows Media Player.
      • Why? Because VLC allows me to adjust volume higher than 100% and I have some hearing impairment. Media Player is capped at 100%.
    • I want FireFox as my default browser! (I am NOT trying to remove Edge.) NOT Edge.
There are more defaults that I have to adjust every time. These are only the top of the list.

I really don't care what Microsoft thinks I ought to use. It is really ticking me off.

So, is there are way to force Win 10 to retain my settings?
