Stupid Microsoft implementation of Bitlocker on Windiws 11. Who is interested in joining me in a class action lawsuit?

Win 11 Home - Bitlocker destroyed my SSD Windows Install. I didn't activate Bitlocker!

1. Why did I have Bitlocker installed? I didn't personally install or authorize its installation.

2. It was Windows 11 Home edition on a new Asus Vivobook 15. Not Win11Pro.

3. Now that I formatted the drive using a Linux USB thumb drive and installed Linux, is it possible to re-install Windows 11 without having to pay for a key? I had reset my BIOS to default several times during the stupid "Critical Service Failure" BSOD bitlocker caused. I hate Bitlocker with a passion and I never knew what it was until it destroyed my OS install.

Thanks for making a suggestion - but I don't believe that this is an acceptable outcome for me.

To reformat the had drive and reinstall everything is surely an absolute last resort when everything else has failed. The three days' angst of finding product keys, reinstalling software, setting up personalised templates, etc, etc - I'd rather beat my head against a brick wall.

But further, it's not a solution because there's no guarantee that the same problem wouldn't happen again the next day.

Is there really no Dos command to switch off Bitlocker?

Can Windows 11 be really so dodgy that it destroys itself and cannibalises a machine it's installed on?

Could Microsoft be so callous that they'd release an operating system that functions just like the worst kind of virus?

I hope not.

If there are any other options, I'd like to try them before implementing the last resort.

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.
