Windows 10: Why is Microsoft store asking me for my address?

Why is the store asking me for my address? I don't remember asking me a few years ago. There is no reason for you to have my address when purchasing downloaded software. Unless you plan to mail me a copy you have no need to have it. Do not tell me it is for my own protection. I pay through Paypal and that is taken care of. If you want me to use the store stop asking for stuff you don't need to know.

Microsoft Edge Address Bar

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to open actual address of websites with short forms as you wish:

• Open Microsoft Edge, click on More actions(...) at the right top corner.
• Click on View advanced settings, under Search in the address bar with
  click on down arrow.
• Choose <add new>, try to add the default website.

Secondly, as opening pages in new tab is set by design, I suggest you to provide this as a feedback.

App store and Microsoft account

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
