Windows 7 Driver not working and getting AVG reports

I suspect AVG is not what is telling you, that you have outdated drivers, but rather another program you have installed. Look in your installed programs list and see if you can find a driver update program of some sort. If you find one, uninstall them.
They are bogus and actually not good for your computer. If AVG is telling you that, that program is venturing into areas it should not. If so, consider a different supplier.

Drivers should never be updated like other software. They should only be updated IF and WHEN you are having a specific problem and the diagnosis of that particular problem points to a driver. Then and only then update that driver and only that driver.
The ONLY valid source for drivers is the manufacturer of your equipment.

Never allow driver update utilities to work. They are full of wrong/bad drivers and malware.

As long as you keep a good antivirus software program running and up to date and use your computer safely, there is no reason why you should not keep using Windows 7. I would advise the following"

    1. A top-notch antivirus program
    2. Regular updates of your data
    3. Switch away from Microsoft's Internet Explorer and use Google's Chrome instead
    4. If possible, consider replacing the old hard drive with a new one and re-install Windows. When you do that, create a system image of the drive BEFORE you add data. That system image is a great bit of security that would for the future allow a re-install
without an install disk and activation code. Which you will need this time.
