Windows 10: Why is my computer no longer activated after sending my motherboard in for replacement?

Hi.


I recently had to send my motherboard in for repairs. They ended up replacing it. I temporarily used a different motherboard to run my computer while it was sent in. When they sent me a new one I installed it and saw that my windows 10 license is no longer activated. I called support and was told that DESPITE the fact I had a legal copy of windows I would have to purchase a new product key if I can't magically find my old product key. This seems deeply unfair, dodgy, and the reason why people pirate windows.


What gives? Apparently it's not on my microsoft account either. Any recourse or do I have to shell out 30-40 bucks whenever I switch hardware out because microsoft wants more of my money?

After Changing to a new CPU and Motherboard, my Windows 10 is no longer activated

I logged into windows 10 using my Mircosoft account on my computer after upgrading my CPU and Motherboard, and Windows 10 was no longer activated. The activation menu states that I have error "0xC004C003" and to use the troubleshooter. The troubleshooter
says that it cannot activate my copy of Windows 10, and to make sure that I am connected to the internet. I upgraded my computer from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 when there was the option for a free upgrade if that helps. How can I activate my Windows 10?

 

My PC suddenly says its not activated

So now I have a clean install and windows is activated, what are my steps to find out why my original windows install wasn’t activated......

I await instructions........

and apart from checking activation, I do everything else as per your suggestions......will in future check validated once a month.......

 

Can't activate windows 10 after changing motherboard

Hello,

I can't activate my windows 10 license after changing my motherboard.

The license I have is a Windows 7 Pro license, that got changed into a Windows 10 license, when the upgrade was free.

Steps I took previous to the motherboard change:

- I linked my Microsoft account with my device, so that my license is registered under my account (it showed up with my mail in the accounts section)

Now, with the new motherboard built in, I can't activate Windows 10 anymore.

I tried the support steps listed by the Microsoft helper (Activation -> Click Troubleshoot), but that did not work.

In the Activitation settings I get the error code: 0xC004F213

Does anybody know a solution for this, as I haven't found one so far.
