Windows 10: Why is my computer password suddenly asking for microsoft online password?

My microsoft online password has always been different from my physical computer password. I had changed passwords on microsoft online recently for work and now my old computer password doesnt work. I can only login using the finger scan. How do i change this?

Password issue

After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???
