Windows 10: Why is my computer prompting me the challenge phrase when no one has been incorrectly...

Hi,A few days ago I went to log onto my computer and I saw the challenge phrase, so I suspected of my brother messing around. But after asking everyone in my family no one has done anything to my computer. The next days whenever I turn on my computer the same thing keeps happening. Is someone trying to hack into my computer? I have tried resetting it a few times and checking for viruses and nothing comes up, but still the challenge phrase shows up after a day.

First, "Challenge Phrase" is a new approach taken by Microsoft to thwarting brute force attacks or cyber trespassers. This attack involves a simple process of trying all common or likely PIN codes over and over until the correct code is finally discovered.
When a PIN gets entered incorrectly four times in a row, users are sent to a different screen where they are requires to enter a specific phrase.

May I know what are you trying to do before the challenge phrase prompted?

And what do you mean by nothing happens? Did this mean you where directed to another windows?

Kindly give further details so I can suggest or give you a step by step procedure to fix this.

The challenge phrase does not require you to write it down. In general, after you have entered the wrong Pin number several times, you will see the prompt:

If you want to enter it again, enter challenge phrase A1B2C3

A1B2C3 is the challenge phrase. Since you have remembered the correct password, please enter the correct password after entering.

If you are currently stuck in a certain step, or have encountered a problem that cannot be explained by the text, I welcome you to provide the corresponding screenshot here so that I can better understand.

challenge phrase

I am being prompted to enter a challenge phrase, but when I try to type in the box, nothing happens. Is there any way around this?
