  1. Why is my computer using my storage hard drive to create and store SYSTEM Folders? I cant...

So I am using an SSD to run Windows 7 at the moment, I habe upgraded and downgraded from Windows 10 repeatedly. I have messed up when i installed the wrong drivers and had to reinstall everything many times. I use a separate Hard Drive to store all of my installation files, programs, drivers, and other files. This 1TB Hard Drive is a hard drive I only want to use for Storage. But since I run the programs from this Separate Hard Drive then Windows SYSTEM has created a “avast sandbox”, “Program Files”, “WindowsApps”, and other Folders on my hard drive. I dont want Windows to touch my Hard drive at all. Its only meant to use the SSD Local Disk, but I cannot delete the folders that SYSTEM has created on the separate hard drives. Its done it to 2 extra Hard drives, I cant delete the folders and I think my problems in Windows come from my SYSTEM using the other hard drives. If its using the other hard drives for critical system files then thats why my System keeps crashing. What can I do to delete these Folders? Im planning on reformatting my hard drives after saving only what I need to save. Then keeping my other Hard drives unplugged and separate from my Windows until i can re-install everything and i am no longer installing from storage. I think it installed to the drive the installation files were in.

    :)

  2. Hard Drive Storage

I have a 500Gb Hard Drive, running Windows 10 Pro version 1909. My c drive is nearly full, I have checked every area on the pc and nothing adds up to the 486Gb I'm supposed to have available. I have gone to Settings > System > Storage - it shows that 401Gb
is being taken up by Apps and features but when I click on this and show the list of installed apps with their sizes, I have added up the entire list and it comes to 25Gb total. It doesn't show what's eating up the rest of the 400Gb of space. I have deleted
everything I can and have only been able to free up 11Gb so far so my c drive is still showing red. At this point is the only other step to reload the pc, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be and how to fix?

    Thanks,

    Heather

  3. Hard Drive Storage Issues

When trying to download a program on my computer recently, I found that I didn't have enough storage on my hard drive. I moved every single document and picture file to Google Drive then deleted them from my hard drive. I have uninstalled all unused apps/programs.
I have updated my storage sense settings, run a disk cleanup, and deleted all unnecessary files from my Temp folder. I have virtually nothing stored on my hard drive, yet I have no more storage space than when I started. In fact, with each step I take to delete
unnecessary files, I actually have less storage space each time I check. At a certain point, I had close to 20 GB free, but I needed at least 26 GB, so I deleted some files and programs and now I'm down to 15 GB with 103 GB used. Somehow, clearing
storage space is actually costing me storage space. When I go to Windows>Settings>System>Storage>Storage Usage, "Systems & Reserved", "Apps & Games" and Temporary Files show over 100 combined GB. But when I click on them, they don't show more than maybe 8
GB of actual files and programs. This is especially confusing with the Temporary files, since I know for a fact I just cleared most of them from my computer.

    1) How can I clear space from my hard drive in order to be able to download new programs?

    2) Why is my hard drive actually losing each time I take steps to clear storage space?

    Thanks for any help.
