Windows 10: Why is my D-Drive and Desktop somehow linked / Why are there 2 D Drives?

I've been having this issue for a while and it still confuses me till this day. It's like... every time I've downloaded something, rather than downloading it and dragging it onto my desktop, it's already there. I mean... I'm use to dragging downloaded stuff onto my desktop so yeah. Another thing is, I have no clue where my desktop folder is.

The other is that I literally have 2 D Drives and it's been bugging me. I've already went into the properties and tried restoring the location or something to restore what it used to be. "System Volume Information" Access is denied. If any of you guys know a fix to this, it would make my day seriously, cuz this is just driving me insane.



btw if you guys know how to make like my file background thing like apple grey? like you know how apple has that feature where there's light mode and dark mode? yeah, if you could show me how, it would be cool. Appreciate it guys, thanks

D drive

Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

• Type Command prompt in the search bar.
• Type-in the following command:
  
  attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
• Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

• Click on the File Explorer.
• Select This PC.
• Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
• Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

My Desktop is a D Drive

Open File Explorer, then create a new Folder on that D drive and name it Desktop

Close File Explorer

Open the Registry Editor again, it will still be on the same page . . .

Double click Desktop, then set its value data to this and click OK

D:\Desktop

Double click 54ac886-df64-4cba-86b5-f7fbf4fbcef5, then set its value data to this and click OK

D:\Desktop

Close the Registry Editor and restart (not shut down) your PC

That will have split your Desktop and the D Drive, your Desktop will now be located in that Desktop folder, you may need to manually move files into that folder form your D drive . ..

 

Duplicate D:\ drive

This sounds similar to what I ended up doing, just that I pointed it back to the original Videos location, which I restored from a .bat file (I believe I found it in a thread on tenforums about removing or restoring the User folders.
