Windows 10: Why is my headphone splitter on pc not working?

Hello, so recently I have been playing games like fortnite on my pc and when I am on keyboard and mouse I had the headset plugged in to the pc, so I could hear the game but others couldn't hear me through the mic. So I bought a headphone splitter to see if it would work then. I still have the same issue where I can hear but my mic doesn't work. People have been saying it's has got to do with my settings on pc so I have tried playing around with all the audio settings like output and input device on both fortnite settings and normal pc settings app. Nothing has worked so far so could someone pl

Headphone and Microphone Splitter Not Working for Laptop

I have an Acer Spin 311. I've wanted to use this lapel microphone I bought recently, but I realized that a USB cord would've been better than a audio jack a little too late.

So I bought a "splitter" for both microphones and headphones. The way my computer works, is that whenever I plug something into the audio jack, it asks me if I plugged in headphones, headset, or if I still want to have speakers out.

I told the computer headset, plugged in both the headphones and microphone in the right places (the pair of headphones I have come with a microphone, if that means anything). And then I recorded myself, and nothing was coming through. I could hear everything
just fine, but microphone? Zilch. Nothing.

I have no clue what to do. The splitter works fine with my phone, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help on this? I want to use this microphone ASAP.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?
• How have you connected the headphones to your device?
• Were you able to see if the headphones detected on your computer?

As a work around, try the below and update us the status of this issue:

• I suggest you to connect the headphones to different device and check if the headphone is working fine. This will help us to detect if the issue is with headphone.
• If headphones are working fine on other devices, try to connect the headphones to different ports on the PC in the question and check if it is working fine. This will help us to know if the issue is with ports.

I recommend you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

There are many. For example, 3.5mm Speaker and headphone Splitter - Amazon UK - I realise you are in the USA. The UK link was what I had handy. - You could search your own Amazon for Speaker and headphone Splitter and I'd suggest checking the whole product description, QnA & user reviews for confirmation that they work for inputs as well as outputs [not all do]. best of luck, Denis
