Windows 10: Why is my HP laptop screen black, even though it is turned on?

Earlier today, my HP Pavilion 14 laptop ran into an error, causing it to shut off. When I turned it back on, it briefly showed a black screen with text about a BIOS error. After that the screen was black. When I turned it on again numerous times, it was just black, but I could hear the fan and the power button was lit up.I have looked up solutions but nothing has worked yet. I tried all the keyboard combinations such as:-Win+B-Win+V-B-Win+Shift+Ctrl+B-Shift+Ctrl+DelYet, nothing is happening.I also tried checking the RAM in the base of my laptop, but despite taking it out and putting it back in

Toshiba Laptop Black Screen

I have a Toshiba Laptop, Was reinstalling windows 7 on it last night left it doing the updates then shut it down. Turned it on this this afternoon only to find the laptop screen is Black and also there is a burning smell coming from the Fan.

I connected the Laptop to a external monitor that is fine, Can go into bios, Windows boots up fine Etc.
Just took apart the laptop earlier to check all the cables where in correctly, Checked the motherboard over for any damage, burnt bits but but found nothing. Just put it back together now but im still getting this burning smell and i still cant use the laptop screen only a external screen.

I Tried Pressing FN+F5 to switch to the laptop screen, But still black screen. Any Suggestions please ?

Could you please help me with the below information:

1. What is the model of HP laptop you are using?
   
2. Does the black screen occur while using the PC or while restarting the machine?
   
3. Are you aware of any changes happened on the computer prior to the issue?
   
4. Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type:winver in start menu and hit enter.)
   

I appreciate the time you have taken to resolve this issue. There can be many reasons for booting to a black screen.
These screens may appear with or without the mouse pointer.
The main causes are Problems with the driver for your display adapter or incompatible application.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the article on
Troubleshoot black screen or blank
screen errors,
refer the section
I see a black or blank screen after signing in to Windows 10.

If that doesn’t help, I would also suggest you to go through the article provided by HP on
Troubleshooting Screen Issues (Windows 10, 8, 7),
refer the section No image on the screen, or the screen is blank.

HP 8440p laptop with Win 10 - black screen ?

I have a weird occurrence on this older laptop HP 8440p. Every once in a while - and too often - the screen will go black - the cursor will still be working and the machine is running, but the screen will be black and nothing will happen. I have left it for hours and the computer does not come back on. This will happen when it is being used or when it is sitting idle. The other day I was playing a game on it and the screen went black. I could still hear the game being played and the cursor were still responsive but I could see nothing. What I have done : 1) Used the MCT and created a new win 10 2) updated the drivers the best I could (they only have drivers for win 7 on the HP website) 3) I have turned off the power/sleep options. Any suggestions? Also, I do not know how to get into SAFE MODE - pressing f8 did not work.
