Windows 10: Why is my KENSINGTON Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Properly on Win11 DT?

Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Properly.Running Virus & Malware free Win 11 Desktop with all updates. IPVanish VPN.The attached pic shows the window I routinely get at various times / sites. My Kensington Fingerprint Scanner lights up but the system / window is unresponsive to my finger scan 100% of the time. Selecting “More Choices” and using Pin or Password works. Very interestingly, if I simply cancel the window, the site lets me go on as if it did “Make sure it’s me.”I use Windows Hello fingerprint scan using same device to log on and to wake my computer. It works about 98%

To resolve this issue try the following steps:

• 
  Have you updated the driver for the Finger Print scanner? If not, check on the manufacturer’s website (HP).
  
• 
  Check if installing the latest driver of the fingerprint scanner allows you to login using a Microsoft Account?
  

This issue might occur due to driver incompatibility since upgrading to Windows 10.



If you have the raw executable file of the corresponding driver for the validity sensor, I would suggest you to install the downloaded driver file in compatible mode with Windows 7 or 8. Refer to the following steps to do so.

• 
  Right click on the driver, and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  
• 
  Select Windows 7 in the list of Operating systems.
  
• 
  Click OK.
  
• 
  Double-click the driver file to install the driver and follow the onscreen instructions.
  
• 
  Reboot your computer.

my touchscreen stopped working properly and my fingerprint scanner is not working

The built-in hardware and devices troubleshooter can automatically detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors that could cause issues with hardware. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if there is any issue with
the display adapter. Refer top these steps:

• a) Open Control Panel
• b) Click on Troubleshooting and select the
  view all option on the left pane.
• c) Click on Hardware and devices troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

Try method 2, if the issue persist

Method 2:
Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

There could be a possibility of corrupt or incompatible fingerprint scanner drivers. You may refer to the manufactures’ website and install the latest fingerprint scanner drivers for the device.

Fingerprint scanner

I updated windows, now my fingerprint scanner doesn't work. I tried everything help suggested. The fingerprint scanner just doesn't do anything anymore.
