Windows 10: why is my keyboard beeping and not letting me type?

my keyboard beeps when I’m in a game and keeps beeping when I type and then in the game I can’t type in chat because the keys are beeping and I have a feeling I’m pressing something on the right side of my computer that does it and starts it, but I’ve turned off toggle keys. I’ve turned off all those sticky keys and everything like that and it’s still happening. and it doesn’t only beep once every single time I press a key it beeps. it’s a laptop by the way.

To help you with your concern, we suggest that you troubleshoot the keyboard. Follow these step by step instructions on how to troubleshoot:

• Click Windows tab.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• On the left side, click View all.
• Choose Hardware and Devices.
• It will prompt you to run as Administrator. Enter your credentials then it will check for any problems with your computer.

Sometimes, you may suddenly find the Keyboard on your computer beeping, but not typing any words. This issue in most cases is triggered due to accidental pressing of certain keyboard shortcuts.

First to makw sure that sticky keys is off or disabled please press shift key 5 times.

If this does not fix the problem, you can find below the steps to manually disable Sticky and Filter Keys in Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers.

-Click on the Start button > Settings Icon > click on Accessibility in the left-pane. In the right-pane, scroll down and click on Keyboard.

-On the next screen, disable Filter Keys by moving the slider to OFF position.

-go to Settings > Ease of Access > On the next screen, select Keyboard in the left-pane. In the right-pane, move the toggle next to Use Sticky Keys to OFF position.

-On the same screen, scroll down and disable Filter Keys option.

After this try to test if keyboard is working if not proceed to the next step.

-Right-click on the Start button and click on Device Manager. On Device Manager sccreen, double-click on HID Keyboard Device.

-On Keyboard Device Properties screen, switch to Power Managment tab and uncheck Allow computer to turn off this device to save power option.

After this, your computer won’t be able to switch off the Keyboard and prevent it from working.
