  1. Why is my lap top crashing when I update Standard NVM Controller update?

I have a HP lap top that I just bought about 6 months ago. running Windows 10. I have been updating the recommended

updates and drivers etc... when I run the update scanner. I am down to two of them named: Standard NVM Express Controller and one called PCI express Root Complex update. When I click on one of them and it updates it says "Restarting computer" and it re-starts then when it tries to re-boot I get a "Your system Crashed" , it then gives me option to "fix the problem" so I choose it then it does the same thing and keeps crashing. The way I fix it is by choosing the option to restore to a version prior to the crash.

Help! Why is it doing this? Do I really need those updates?

    thanks,

    Ozzy

    :)

  2. Standard NVM Express Controller

Hi.. Hope all are doing great...

Issue, I am running Windows 10 Pro 2004. I have an XPG SX6000 Lite 256GB M.2 drive installed on a Vantec Adapter in a PCIe slot. Motherboard is an old P8H77-V i3770 CPU. When Windows loads from a shut down (Cold Boot) the Standard NVM Express
Controller Driver loads and the drive works great. But, when a restart (Soft Boot) is done the Standard NVM Express Driver fails to load and the drive does not show and is not listed...

What do you think Why is my lap top crashing when I update Standard NVM Controller update? :)? Help would be amazing... Thanks

  3. Standard NVM Express Controller

    Hi.. Thanks Greg...

Let me answer these one at a time... Sata Controller is set to AHCI in the Bios. This issue has been there since I installed the M.2 NVMe, M.2 Sata SSD PCIe X4 Adapter. So there is no point in the Restore to go back to. I need this adapter as there
is no M.2 connections on the motherboard... old board.... Asus P8H77-V. A screen shoot of Disk Management would simple show you a shot of the drive being there after a cold start... like it is now.... All are showing healthy.. I have a C, F, G, D, H drive....
If I did a restart (Soft Boot) then it would not show the SSDM.2 H drive and the Standard NVM Express Controller Drive would not load. For some reason when a Restart (Soft Boot) is made the driver does not load.. so no M.2 drive....
