Windows 10: Why is my laptop just pitch black and the power button is flashing?

My HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop is showing the screen as black and the power button is flashing every now and then. What can I do to fix this and make my laptop go back to normal?

Hello,

Black screen printing wingdings with high pitched tone can be due to outdated drivers. This can also be connected to hardware issue. For us to isolate and identify
if this is a hardware or software issue, we suggest to perform the Windows Hardware Troubleshooter.

To access the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter, follow the steps provided below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” in the Search bar and press Enter.
  
• Click on “View All” in the top left corner.
  
• This will display the list of troubleshooters which are built-in in the computer. You can click on Hardware and Devices from the list and you can run the troubleshooter.

Flashing black screen after pressing power button

Hi all,

I have been facing this issue for a while now, which is everytime after I shutdown my laptop and powering it on after about 10 seconds or restarting it, the display would immediately show a flashing black screen and with the hard drive light flashing non-stop.
The only way to solve this is to force shut down my laptop and letting it rest for about half an hour then powering it on again, where there would also be the flashing black screen but only for a few seconds then going back to normal. Does anyone know how
to fix this for good? Much thanks.

 

How to disable "5 seconds power button shut off" on a laptop?

I does not suggest you to do this, if you insist on this, try the following steps.

1. Open Control Panel
   
2. Find and click System and Security
   
3. Find and click Power Options
   
4. On the left hand, you will see Choose what the power button does and click it
   
5. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable to be able to change the settings
   
6. In When I press the power button, you can choose Do nothing
