Windows 10: Why is my Microsoft acct resetting every time i restart my laptop now

I was having some issues with my internet connection so i decided to restart my laptop, which proved to be a bad idea because when it started back up everything had basically been reset and i lost just about all my files and pics and then when i turned it off to do a "hard reset" in the hopes that everything would be restored it kept asking me to reset my password saying there was a problem with my account that maybe a password had been changed which it hadnt, and each time i restarted it said i had the wrong password and needed to reset my password.....if anyone has run into this issue i would appreciate learning what helped you.

Non Admin acct questions

I think you may just be looking in the wrong place. When you sign out the sign in screen and password box will be for the account that has just signed out. It's the same for a restart, the sign in screen will be for the last user that had signed in.

Sign out, then look for a list of names in the lower left corner of the sign in screen. All available accounts should be listed there, click on the one you want to change the sign in screen to be for that user. See the screenshot at step 2 in this tutorial.

Correct, the user folder is not created until the first sign in.

 

Microsoft Acct login as Laptop login - Problems

Sounds just 1 step short of wiping the HD. I am hoping for something a bit less radical.

There has to be some reason the new MS Acct login is not making it to the laptop login
