Can someone explain to me why anytime i open up Gamebar and join a party, anytime that im in a game like Destiny 2 or Fortnite, or Star trucker, that utilizes the mouse exclusively. Anytime i move my mouse to the left towards where my monitor is it goes over to the second monitor... like im just moving my mouse around to move my character around and it moves over to the second monitor.yes i play destiny 2 in borderless full, so that i can move my mouse when in the menus to the other monitor because i watch youtube.and no putting it into full screen or Exclusive full screen does not help, i f

Windows 11 FPS drops when moving mouse / screen in some games.

Recently I bought an Asus Zephyrus Duo 16,

great laptop, could run pretty much anything with good fps,

Apex, which is the main game I played would run at 180~ fps constant almost all the time with occasional dips in certain areas,

but nonetheless the game ran perfect.

However, recently after moving my setup (and also changing monitors from 2560x1440 @ 240Hz to 1920x1080 @ 165Hz) I noticed that, specifically in Apex i've been getting awful fps drops, only when moving my mouse,

which results in sluggish gameplay and almost like my sensitivity changes, making the game unplayable.

I haven't really tweaked any settings since moving my setup, and the GPU and CPU temps are fine (up to 85~ for CPU and 75 for GPU).

However, when moving my mouse in game the frame dips from a constant 163 FPS to 130, 110, sometimes even 50 FPS. Although, locking my FPS to 60 fps completely gets rid of the issue, but I really need the higher FPS.

That being said, actual CPU and GPU utilisation does not change whatsoever.

Also, when I stop moving my mouse the performance is smooth.

I've already tried setting a lower polling rate, my power plan is set to best performance, and Asus Turbo mode is on. I don't think it's a problem with my mouse or laptop specifically, as I've changed polling rates and used other mice with no effect and this issue seems to only affect Apex.
I have also tried uninstalling my NVidia and AMD drivers, reinstalled latest drivers, still didn't work and even rolled back a few updates and yet it just won't work.

    Any ideas?

Update: I noticed that this issue is replicated in Black Ops 2, same story- 500~ fps and drops to 100, and in Overwatch I have general fps drops not related to mouse movement. In games which rely much less on GPU power, such as Minecraft, I don't really notice an effect, so I'm not sure anymore.

FPS drops when playing video in background

I am trying to understand why I experience FPS drops in demanding games when a video is playing in background and how to fix it. My particular setup (see the specs at the bottom): two monitors in extended desktop mode, the primary monitor connected via DisplayPort to an AMD R9 390 video card, the other via DVI alternatively to the on-die Intel HD 4600 graphics output or to the R9 390's DVI output.

I will demonstrate the problem with Witcher 3 game, but the same problem occurs with at least one other game that I tried - World of Tanks (which is where the issue actually matters, as sometimes I put on music from YouTube while in game). In all the experiments below I run Witcher 3 on my primary monitor in windowed full-screen mode and measure the FPS in it with FRAPS. To guarantee stable FPS, I put the game on pause (by pressing ESC). I also set affinity of the Witcher 3 process to the first 3 cores and set the affinity of other applications to the 4th core. The CPU load has remained stable on cores 1-3 throughout the tests at 45-50%.

Baseline test when the game is not running: CPU load is at ~0% on cores 1-3 and ~5% on core 4.
Baseline test when the game is running, but no video being played in parallel: stable 58 FPS, CPU load: ~10% on core 4.

First batch of tests: the secondary monitor is connected to the R9 390.

    1. 1080p YouTube HTML5 video running on the secondary monitor (in
Chrome or Firefox): ~48 FPS, CPU load: ~50% on core 4.
    2. The same YouTube video running on the primary monitor on top of the game:
      same results as in (1).
    3. SMPlayer playing a 1024x426 AVC video on the
secondary monitor: ~48 FPS, CPU load: ~25% on core 4.

Second batch of tests: the secondary monitor is connected to HD 4600.

    1. 1080p YouTube HTML5 video running on the secondary monitor (in Chrome or Firefox): ~44 FPS, CPU load: ~50% on core 4.
    2. The same YouTube video running on the primary monitor on top of the game: ~48 FPS, CPU load: ~50% on core 4.
    3. SMPlayer playing a 1024x426 AVC video on the secondary monitor: ~50 FPS, CPU load: ~25% on core 4.

Now, one thing I noticed is that performance varies depending on whether the game window is focused or not. The benchmarks above are given for the case when the game window is focused. If the game window is focused, I see clear choppiness in video playback (both in YouTube and in SMPlayer). If another window is focused, video playback is smooth, but game FPS drops more.

My specs: Windows 10 x64, Intel i5-4690K, Gigabyte Z97-D3H, 8Gb RAM, R9 390 video card. The primary monitor (connected to R9 390) runs at 1920x1200, the secondary at 1600x1200.

EDIT: I took a music-only YouTube and tried to play it in various resolutions from 240p to 1080p. The FPS dropped gradually from 58 to 48 FPS as I increased the resolution.

Mouse lag/stutter playing games in Windows 10

    Since I got this computer:

    • i5 7600K 3.80Ghz
    • 16 RAM Single channel 1069 Mhz
    • STRIX Z270E mobo
    • PG348Q Monitor
    • GTX 1080 Zotac
    • 500 GB SSD Western Digital

I haven't been able to play smooth any games with a mouse. It does work well with an Xbox controller via USB tho. Quite an irony. The micro stuttering or lag happens when I use the mouse - it is unplayable and gives some headache with the time. It does happen in single and multiplayer and the FPS are not a problem, no drops and its steady well above 60.

While in game, if I use the keyboard to move around or I use the Xbox controller everything goes well, the issue shows up as soon as I move the mouse to look around. After a lot of googling and 2 weeks of installing OSs and trying everything, my guess is that the issue is related to the mouse polling rate. The feeling is clearly different to lag or fps drops but close enough for me to call it stutter or lag, not sure if there is a specific term. The software Mouse Rate Checker shows an average of 90Hz.

I've tried overclocking the mouse polling rate but no effort yet. In case it might be something different, what are your ideas? What could it be?

The OS and Nvidia drivers I've tried are:

Windows 10 64 - I've tried the Education N version, up to date and a doggy Pro one which haven't updated, just in case, which currently is in 1511 (just before anniversary update).
Nvidia drivers: have tried the last 2 versions (I can't recall the exact v. number of the previous one, I think it had a "28" at the end).
