Windows 10: Why is my pc asking for my Microsoft password and not my 4 digit pin I usually use to get in

My pc always asks for my 4 digit pin to login. But today all the sudden it is asking for my Microsoft password to get into my pc. I typed in my password and it automatically says that my password is incorrect when I click enter and tells me to reset my password. I’ve reset it multiple times and it still isn’t letting me into my pc.

Changing password back to a 4 digit pin

    Are you able to access the desktop or able to login as you are telling that it tells that you are entering the incorrect password?

    Which is the build currently installed on the computer?

    Is the account a local account or Microsoft Account?
    

I suggest you to sign out from the current account, restart the computer and log in with Microsoft Account and please follow the below steps.

• Press Windows + I keys to open
  settings menu.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• Click on Add under PIN.
• Follow the onscreen instructions to create Pin.
• Sign out and try to sign in again using PIN as your Sign in option.

Follow these steps to set up a PIN on your Windows User Account:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click
  Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Add button.
  
• 
  Type in the password for your User Account, then click the
  Ok button.
  
• 
  Select and enter a 4 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
  
• 
  Exit the PIN setup utility.
  

From now on you’ll be able to log in to your Windows account by entering your 4 digit PIN instead of your password.



You can change your PIN at any time by following the steps below:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Change button.
  
• 
  Enter your Windows password, then click the

Laptop 4 digit password I can't log in

Hi,

To better assist you regarding your concern, we would like to ask some questions:

• Are you referring to removing the existing PIN?
• Are you referring to inability to log in because you forgot your PIN?
• If so, do you have other user account on your computer who has an administrator access?

If you have other user account on your computer that has administrator access, you can log in to that account and from there you can use the "I forgot my PIN" option to reset it. However, be guided that you need to remember your password(The one you use when
accessing your Microsoft account). To do so, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings
• Click Accounts
• Click Sign-in options
• Click I forgot my PIN
• Click Continue
• Enter your Password
• Click OK
• Set up a new PIN (Enter at least a minimum 4 digit new PIN)
• Click OK
