Why is my resolution capped at 1024 x 768?

So recently my computer's resolution rather mysteriously dropped from the usual 1920 x 1080 to the aforementioned 1024 x 768 and when I went to change back in the display settings I could only downgrade to 800 x 600. I have used my computer same as always, played games, watched series and written my assignments for college, and I haven't really run any very demanding applications.I am using Windows Home 64 Bit, I have a Intel i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz processor a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER graphics card, and a 1920 x 1080 60hz HP monitor using HDMI.I have tried to update my graphics drivers and

  3. Display resolution stuck at 1024 X 768

    Hello,

I've upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago, and recently my screen resolution got stuck at 1024 x 768. I can't change it back to the usual 1360 X 768 because the screen just turns black, and I have to press enter to return to the previous setting. I can
"fool" it into setting to 1280 x 768 whenever I startup the new Catalyst installer, but it reverts to 1024 after I turn the computer on and off again.

My video card is a ATI Radeon 4800 HD.

Why is my resolution capped at 1024 x 768?

    No resolution higher than 1024 x 768

I used a USB drive to upgrade a Dell Optiplex 390 from Windows 7 to Windows 10. After it finished, it only has 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 as options for resolution. The Device Manager has a section for other devices and it has PCI Simple Communications Controller
with a yellow exclamation point. Could this be related?
