    Why is my screen flashing black for a few seconds every 5 minutes


    I’ve tried updating my driver and even disabling and reenabling it, I’ve tried hard resetting my pc pressing the button for 5 seconds. I’ve tried to roll back my driver, I’ve tried updating that and windows, I’ve verified game files in the app, I didnt really have this issue as much a few months ago when my pc was acting up cuz of a hardware issue but I since fixed that and now I’m dealing with this

    I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue.

    Please answer these questions to assist you better.

    • Have you installed all pending Windows updates?
    • Do you get any error message?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

    I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates and check as driver updates are also part of Windows updates.

    Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

    Also uninstall and reinstall Display drivers from manufacturer website and check. Refer the steps below.


    • Press “Windows + X” and select
      Device Manager      .

    • Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.

    • Right click on the driver icon and click on
      Properties      .

    • Go to Driver tab.

    • Select Uninstall and follow onscreen instructions.

    5 min delay on cold start between login screen and bg screen

    One more thing to be considered; black screen 5 minutes after signing in only occurs with my admin sign in account; my wife signs in in a split second with her non admin account. So admin sign in account should be limited to solve this.

    So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?
