Windows 10: Why is my screen rotated after Windows update?

After every single windows update, my laptop goes into portrait mode. I am able to change it back to landscape, but I want to know why this is happening and if I can stop it. I am in windows 11 on a 2-in-1 laptop. I have already turned on rotation lock yet it keeps happening, I want to know what else I can try.

There are several reasons why the screen of your netbook is not rotating. One common reason is the auto rotation feature is locked, you can check it by following these steps:

• On your keyboard, press Windows + A.
• Click Expand.
• Click Rotation lock, and make sure it is turned off.
• Test your netbook if it's properly rotating.

Let’s try simple steps and check if it helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below steps.

Step 1.

You may press Windows key + O (alphabet O). This will enable or disable auto screen-rotation. This is the easiest way.

If the issue still persist try the below steps.

Step 2.

You can also enable auto screen rotation by going to windows screen resolution settings.

  Right click on desktop and click on Screen Resolution.

  Check on option that reads Allow the screen to auto rotate.
  

If the above steps did not help to fix the issue try the below step.

Step 3.

I would recommend you to update all the device drivers manually which are installed on the computer from Device manager.

Why does my screen not rotate?


The auto rotation lock feature is turned on by default in Windows 10. Use the following steps to turn off this feature.

1. Place the tablet into Pad/Tablet mode.
2. Click the Start
   
   menu and select Settings.
3. Click System.
4. Click Display.
5. Scroll down and toggle Lock rotation of this display to OFF.
