Windows 10: Why is my "Settings" icon invisible?

    Why is my "Settings" icon invisible?


    Windows Version 20H2 Build 19042.928 The Settings icon in my apps tray at the bottom of the screen is invisible. I know it's still there because I can put the mouse pointer on that spot and the square lights up, and then I can click it and it goes to settings. I just don't know why the icon isn't visible. BTW, I did the April CU update last night, and the Settings icon is still invisible, just as before. I'm including a screenshot so you can see.

    Why is my "Settings" icon invisible?

    Well, it's only 1 icon being affected, and that's the Settings icon, and in the taskbar. All other icons in all other locations seem unaffected. But as long as I keep the (invisible) Settings icon between two other icons in the taskbar, I'll know it's there. It's not too big of an annoyance that's it's invisible, but it does have me curious. Especially after following your instructions made it appear, only for it to disappear again 2 days later. I suppose it can just be one of those unsolved mysteries.

    Some icons on my taskbar are invisible. I've deleted the icon*.db files to no avail. What do I do next?
