Windows 10: Why is my sound going static after a while of listening to audio.

My Norton 360 said that I needed to update an audio driver, which I did but my sound now goes static after listening to about 2 minutes of audio. I have tried various things but none seem to work e.g. unistalling the driver and installing one from the realtek website and turning off audio enhancement.

Windows 10 no sound, just static

This computer came pre-loaded with Windows 10, I have owned it for two months, with no sound problems. This morning (unknown if there was a Windows update last night) the sound does not work. There is no partial sound when attempting to play music. There is only a constant (with or without playing music) low-level static.

I have done all the usual steps with drivers, updating, uninstalling, deleting, reinstalling. No change.

Originally in device manager, under Sound there was listed (I forget the exact wording):
Intel
Realtek
NVidea

After uninstalling and rebooting there is only:
High Definition Audio Device (assume this is the default)

On the Asus support website where are only Realtek audio drivers. I downloaded and installed those. So now device manager, under sound, shows:
High Definition Audio Device
Realtek High Definition Audio

No matter what I do, same result, just low-level static, no sound or music of any kind.

Any ideas anyone?

This issue can be due to several reasons. Let's get your audio and sound issue sorted, we suggest that you follow the steps provided below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type Control Panel in the search box.
• Select Sound.
• Go to Communications tab.
• Click Do nothing.
• Chose Apply and Ok.

MIracast to television via Roku device. Image perfect, however the only sound produced is static.

This worked great! The first time, but then to play the sound back through the computer later I had to undo the settings as without the Roku the sound got into an endless loooooooop.

And now I can't get it to replicate it again None of the other suggestions work - brand new computer with latest updates etc etc

I've gotten the static noise to go away but still no sound on my tv. I've followed all the steps except the part that says, "Right click on the new device and click" "Enable."

I don't have this option. Currently running Win 10 on a Dell Inspiron 5537.

Just curious if a step is missing or if I'm not opening the right tab, etc.

Has anyone had success yet?
