  1. Why is my Task Manager eating up too much Memory way too often?

Hi! i am posting this Question because i have been having problems with my Task Manager recently where it has been using too much of my Memory and it has been concerning me lately. Usually going up to over 70%, 80% and even 90% memory used often, leading me to having to reset the PC very often just to reset the Memory usage, only for it to stay low temporarily, before increasing again. When checking which programs are using the most memory, it has usually been Microsoft Edge, Lenovo Vantage Service and Antimalware Service Executable. I have tried looking up methods to maybe help stop Microsoft

    :)

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

Task manager eating a ton of memory then goes unresponsive

Since the anniversary update ive had issues with memory and cpu usage. If I open task manager right when I boot up the computer I can get it to stay open....but once the memory starts to pile up it goes "not responding". A few minutes after booting up the
computer, my cursor gets the blue sphere and my memory/cpu start to sky rocket. Task manager shows that "task manager" is the biggest user...but I notice all processes start to spike and rise also. I made a new user to see if it was something I recently downloaded
(windows update and gears 4) but in the test user profile its doing the same thing. Before I do a roll back and lose gears 4(80Gb download), are there any suggestions that might assist me with fixing my problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

    Task Manager Locks USB Drives

    Hi LuizScruz,

Thank your for the quick response.

I can rule out that the problem relates in an way to Windows Explorer. There is no foreground instance of WE running, and there are no other processes accessing files on the drive as well. Even shutting down WE via the task manager does not release the device. Only closing the task manager helps.

I may reproduce the problem by the following steps:

    1. Insert the memory stick (i. e. USB drive) into the USB port.
    2. Start the task manager.
    3. Try to eject the drive safely. The error message pops up.
    4. Close task manager.
    5. Try to eject the drive safely again. The device is released instantly.
Interestingly, you must not reverse steps 1 and 2 to reproduce the error.

I suspect that the problem relates to task manager's monitoring of disk activities.

    Best regards,

    DW
