Windows 10: Why is my usb harddrive active

Hi


I have a usb hard drive that I use for backups. I use EaseUS to create incremental backups every working day at 13:00. That is the only use I have for the hard drive.


But every day when I boot up the hard drive whirrs away. How can I find out what is using the hard drive - and decide whether to switch it off.


I have looked in task manager. There are no apps running and very few services.

Best gaming harddrive Sugestion ???

Seagate states on their 750gb,32mb cache harddrive that the best application is video surveillance.(liquor stores,how very sad and completly overpriced for the amount of problems they have).Yet Passmark lists this near the top of their harddrive page.Any one have a suggestion for something that will last.(maybe samsung???)
Also I was considering a Raidmax hybrid 2 sli 630w powersupply.Any thoughts on Raidmax??

 

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

Windows 10 harddrive change Activation issue

Yes, this is another windows 10 activation problem.

Why did they make this so difficult?

I have upgraded my laptop form 8.1 tot windows 10 succesfully.

It was also succesfully activated.

Now I wanted to change my current harddrive.

This is what I did:

-In my working windows 10 installation I made a USB-stcik for installing (with the normal tool)

-I swapped the harddrives and installed windows 10 with the USB-stick.

During the installation it did ask for a product key, I then skipped this step.

-I then left my laptop on with a internet connection for like a day.

But it still is not acctivated.

It gives error code 0xc004c003. (blocked product key)

After a while it even put the "Activate windows" stamp on my screen.

When i swap back to my old drive it still works.

Why won't it activate?

And how can i resolve this?
