Windows 10: Why is Opera GX newly blocked for my son?

My son has an account in Microsoft Family Safety. He has never had a problem using Opera GX as his browser on his PC. Today, he got a message saying he needed to get approval from me to use it. The message in my account allows me to approve his use for up to 8 hours, but no more. When I clicked on his settings for apps, it says restrictions for Opera GX are off.I don't know why this is happening or what changed from before. Can anyone help?

I have Microsoft Family Safety (MSFS) with all the content and download controls enabled. For example my son can only use the Edge browser, and in the App and Game Limits section of the MSFS site, I can see all the various browsers blocked, including Opera.

But he was still able to download "Opera GX Internet Browser". This appears to be a browser for gamers, but I assume it's also a fully-functional browser where he can hit any website he likes without MSFS blocking content.

So can MS either 1) add Opera GX to the default list of blocked browsers, or 2) tell me that Opera GX is not a fully-functional browser, or is somehow controlled by MSFS, and I shouldn't worry about my son visiting bad sites.

Okay, I recommend that you run the Opera GX as Administrator.

Right-click the Opera GX launcher/shortcut > click Run as administrator.
