Windows 10: Why is remote access so hard when its always been so easy

I remember at least 3 different utilites that tech guys use to remote in on my computer - cant remember the names of them but we did not have to go through all this port forwarding and such on a router for these guys to connect. All we did was run a program and send a code and the other guy could access my computer. Now that I want to do this I can not find the names of these utilities and I we are having to pay a chunk of change to do remote access. I do see we can buy a utitlity for 39dollars that will configure my router for port forwarding for remote access. I also remember that during my studies for A + cert they mentioned a utility that would allow remote access for a tech to use. THANKS

Sounds like you are the recipient of stolen goods. All of our work laptops have this feature where it locks the BIOS and hard disk remotely if stolen, misplaced, or after a certain number of failed access attempts to the data on the disk without the TPM key.

I would suggest returning it to wherever you bought or got it.

Did you allow those Tech Support scammers to have Remote Access to your PC, they would have asked you to allow that?

Once you have turned off Remote Access, they can no longer access your PC.

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features, order that list by Date Installed

Check for any software installed on that date, like TeamViewer or LogMeIn, if you find any remoting application like those, uninstall it

Other than that, you have taken all the right steps and your PC will be fine, you do not need to worry about this further . .
