Windows 10: Why is renaming files in windows 10 and 11 so slow?

I have to rename a few hundred files, but with Windows this seems an impossible mission. Why is that so sooooooooooo slow? I select a file, press F2, paste the new file name, and press enter. Then it takes ages to store the changes so that I can continue with the next file. I tried this on multiple computers with Windows 10 and Windows 11. In 2022, renaming files and folders should take around a few milliseconds. How many people that develop Windows do actually use it at home? It cannot be many to be frank, then otherwise such issues would be noticed.

Windows 11 file moving after renaming

In previous version of Windows, I would rename a file, and click on the next file, to stay in the same position in the list. However, I've found with Windows 11, when I rename a file, and click on the next file, it follows the renamed file to the new position in the list. This is very annoying when renaming a batch of files.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Problems with renaming in Windows 11

I have a different renaming problem with newly installed Windows 11: in File Explorer, if I select a file and attempt to rename it, using right click then selecting the new rename icon, the whole name is selected and any attempt to select the character to edit results in the whole name disappearing so that I am unable to edit the name. I remember fixing this in Windows 10, but the problem has now reappeared. I have a workaround of selecting Properties and then editing the name there, but that is not ideal as it adds an extra step. Could this be anything to do with mouse sensitivity settings? Any quick and easy solutions?
