Windows 10: why is search bar not accepting text?

Windows 10 search bar not accepting text. Also, touch keyboard not accepting text.

Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

"Search the web and Windows" text input stuck in the taskbar

Thank you for using Windows 10.

I understand your concern and would suggest you to perform the following steps and check:

• Right Click on task bar and select "Search" and select "Show Search icon".

See if that helps. I would also like to inform you that you can pin your favorite items to task bar by right click and selecting "Pin to task Bar".

search box on task bar does not accept text entry

After build 1709, I can not use the search box on the task bar. I can enter text, but it never searches. However, Cortana does works in the same search box.
