Windows Specifications; Edition: Windows 10 Pro x64 Bit Version: 21H1 Installed on: ‎5/‎14/‎2020 OS build: 19043.2251 Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3030.0 The Operating System described above is installed on my H.P. Install Win 10 Pro 32 bit on 64 bit Notebook

Please bear with me, as I try to explain my situation. When Win 8 Pro was first released, I purchased it directly from Microsoft, and they sent me two CDs; one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit, with both having the same Product key. I installed the 32-bit
one on my desktop PC, which upgraded itself to Win 8.1. When Windows 10 Pro was released to market, I upgraded to that. So far, so good.

A few days ago I purchased an Asus Notebook with 64-bit architecture, and an OEM Win 10 Home version installed. I want to somehow change the notebook to Win 10 Pro, but don't want to spend the $200 to do so. And, logic tells me that I shouldn't try to
install the Win 10 Pro 32-bit onto the 64-bit notebook. Where I bought the notebook, I asked if I could install the Win 8 Pro 64-bit onto the notebook, and was told no, I could not install a Windows version that is earlier than the existing one on the notebook.
And, just for the record, if that had been a viable way to go, I was going to delete the Product key from the PC, so that it wouldn't be on two machines at once.

My worst case scenario would be to reformat the Asus, install the 64-bit Win 8 Pro, and then keep doing upgrades until I get to where I want to be.

What are my options here? The end result I want is for the Asus Notebook to run Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Here are cleaned up copies of your photos.








They show without any doubt whatsoever that the problem password is a user account password. That can be overcome.
- My worry was originally that the lost password might have been a Bios or Bitlocker password. Either would be a serious, probably unresolvable, problem.

But it's just a user account password. It is resolvable - no ifs, no buts, no maybes

The procedures in my post #8 above are therefore applicable and can be followed, albeit with trepidation, by any user prepared to study each step in turn without being overawed by the enormity of thinking about the whole job all at once.
- Perhaps you would like to read through the whole lot just to get a feel for it all before starting. But don't try to absorb the whole lot at once - step by step will be quite good enough.
- You did not say how old your grandson was or what his computer skills were. He might relish doing the work himself. You might want to assist him by ticking off each step as he does it [and I've managed to write that without once using the words supervise, oversee or control].
- At some unknown stage in the future, your grandson will need to do each of these procedures himself. So throwing him in at the deep end is not completely inappropriate even though he'll have to cope with them all at once. But only each step in turn, not the whole lot at once.

His computer will be up & running as normal [no, better than normal] in less time than we've spent having this conversation.

In my post #8 I've added links to tutorials about setting an account PIN when the job is complete. Many users like PINs [they are simple] but the password must still be written down somewhere secure yet accessible because the full password can be required sometimes & those times are always long after it has been forgotten.

Color bit depth is at 6-bit on Display properties of Windows 10 pro

Try the below suggested steps and check if the suggested options are available to change the Color bit Depth value

1. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. Expand the Display, and then highlight the Change resolution.
3. On the right side, check if there is 8 bpc listed under
   Output color depth.
4. You may select 8 bpc and restart the device to witness the changes.
