  1. Why is the bitlocker screen coming up when my mum has never set it up?

Hi, this is so I can find out what is going on for my mum, she has never set up a bitlocker key and had no clue about it until the screen popped up, my mum is trying to do business and can't get access, and when she is trying to find the key it says she doesn't have one. I have searched everywhere trying to find an answer to get around this and all say you need a bitlocker key when she doesn't, and apparently it's happened to alot of users. Microsoft what do I do? Because we have tried everything even trying to reset her laptop but it just takes you back to the bitlocker screen. It's a windows

    :)

Unigine Valley or Heaven (use this for quick testing while changing settings in Wattman and checking for stability / artifacts) ...just suggesting this
How to monitor cores / mem speeds and temps during testing (I've seen screen overlays, and others using GPUz)

    Bitlocker cannot set up

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

Here are several steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Mark Partition as Active

    1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
    2. Type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Disk Management.
    3. Right-click on the target drive where you want to enable BitLocker.
    4. Select "Mark Partition as Active" and confirm the action.
    2. Repair the MBR and Rebuild the BCD File

If the Master Boot Record (MBR) and BCD files are corrupted, you can encounter this error. Follow these steps to repair them:

    Repair MBR

    1. Download and install MiniTool Partition Wizard.
    2. Launch the software and select the target disk.
    3. Choose "Rebuild MBR" from the left panel.
    4. Click "Apply" and confirm the action.
    Rebuild BCD

    1. Boot into the Windows Recovery Environment.
    2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
    3. Type the following command and press Enter:

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
    3. Make BCD Point to the Correct Path

    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Execute the following commands to ensure the BCD entries point to the correct partitions:

    3. For the "Resume from Hibernate" entry, note down the "identifier" value and execute:

Replace {identifier} with the actual identifier value.
    4. Use the bdehdcfg Command

The bdehdcfg command can prepare your drive for BitLocker by creating the necessary partitions:

    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Use the following syntax to prepare the drive:

This command will create the required system partition and make it active.
    5. Check Group Policy Settings

Ensure that the Group Policy setting "Deny write access to fixed drives not protected by BitLocker" is not enabled:

    1. Open the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > BitLocker Drive Encryption > Fixed Data Drives.
    3. Ensure the policy "Deny write access to fixed drives not protected by BitLocker" is disabled.
Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.
