Windows 10: Why is the copying of Photos from my phone's SD card to my PC so slow?

In the past I have copied loads of photos from my phone's SD card to my PC very quickly. I have just tried to copy about 156 photos and it is saying it will take a few hours. The copy rate goes from 1Mb/sec to 10,12, 15 or occasionally a very high rate.I have also found that if I click on a photo icon to open that photo, in say the family album file, it will take 2 or 3 minutes to open, whereas in the past it was a matter of seconds.As far as I know I have not changed any app for carrying out these functions and I do not know what app is being used.How do I find out what app it is and also whi

You can follow these steps:

• Connect your phone to your PC using a USB cord.
• Open your PC's File Explorer.
• Search and click the images you wish to connect to your phone.
• Right click and choose Copy.
• Double-click the SD card's drive and paste the images there.

Cannot copy music files to SD card

Thanks for your suggestions and see below...

Put card into surface and run scan; all ok

Files will not copy to music folder (either mp3 or jpeg or excel) I tried all sorts of files ad none would work

I did copy a music file to "videos" on the card and it copied perfectly (since deleted it)

It seems the "MUSIC" folder on the card is locked to copying when the card is in the phone because I CAN copy music files to it when it is in the surface pro.

Music is default to save to SD card

I cannot see to add music in groove as I already have over 7500 songs on my 200GB card.

Copy SD card to new SD Card

I am attempting to do the same thing.

Replace an SC card with a larger SD card on a Lumia 1520.

While I understand this explanation for apps, my photos, videos, and music are not being recognized. Storage sense lists photos and videos, however they are not available in the photo album, just black squares. The music is also listed under 'other, the
albums and songs show up in the music app, however none of the files will play. I have attempted to copy the data traditionally and with robocopy.

What would be the best way to achieve the desired result of having everything moved from one SD card to another?
