Windows 10: Why is the customize tab in my Application properties menu missing?

Recently I have been attempting to change the icon for a game from the default application icon to a more fitting image. I got the icon ready and adjusted to the right file type. Except when I went into the properties tab to adjust it the customize tab was missing entirely.I've browsed through different solutions and similar problems, and nothing has worked thus far. This includes adding the {ef43ecfe-2ab9-4632-bf21-58909dd177f0} key to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers because it was missing.So, I have no clue what steps to take. start menu tab missing from win10 "taskbar and start menu properties"

I am trying to clear the history list in start menu and taskbar automatically recorded in win 10. However, the "start menu" tab is missing from the "taskbar and start menu properties".

There is a link to show how the "start menu" tab looks like.

But mine is missing, and also the other three tabs in "taskbar and start menu properties" might not look right. I attached snapshots for them here.

How I can bring back the "start menu" tab back to "taskbar and start menu properties"?

or is there another way to clear the history of lists the programs, files, folders, and websites that I opened from the start menu and taskbar? Thanks!

 

Taskbar "start menu" customization tab missing

On Windows 8.x and lower versions of Windows, you’re be able to apply customization’s to the Start Menu under the Taskbar and and Start Menu Properties which can be found when you right-click on the taskbar. On Windows 10, this setting is not available when you select the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties on the taskbar and in the most recent version of Windows 10, you won’t see the properties at all. The Start Menu settings in the taskbar properties has been removed in Windows 10 therefore you can’t find the Start Menu or Taskbar settings as you would on earlier versions of Windows. This Start Menu customization setting has been moved to Settings > Personalization > Start whereas the Taskbar settings has been moved to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar. Take Menu tab missing from Taskbar Properties


I have the same problem. After right clicking the Taskbar the Properties menu item is missing also so is the Search tab and the embedded selections of Hide Cortana, Show Search Box and Show Search Icon. Supposedly, Properties was to help me get the Search back but of course that is missing as well. Not sure they are not related issues but wanted to mention it. I did update the video card as suggested at the end of the thread and my device manager said I already had the latest. Any other ideas?
