Windows 10: Why is the Documents folder such a mess on Windows?

Why does on Windows all applications dump their files in the documents folder? It makes the folder unusable and if you have OneDrive sync enabled then it syncs all the files of all apps and such taking up OneDrive space. It doesn't happen on Mac or Linux. It's a Windows only problem. Why doesn't Microsoft fix it before forcing users to use OneDrive for backups as it also backs up documents folder with all the junk from even uninstalled apps?Microsoft must provide clear instructions set to third party developers that they must not use documents as the default folder. Or enable restrictions like

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Windows Fax & Scan cannot access Documents folder?

Have been messing with user accounts?
Removing and adding again Windows Fax'n'scan did not help?
It uses some folders like "incoming faxes" etc in My documents. As that program is very old maybe it doesn't "know" were you moved Your My Documents folder.
