Windows 10: Why is the mail icon different from the layout & mail in outlook.com?

frustrating. I use a pop server. When I click on the 'red' envelope for mail in the window icon, it comes up with my email name, inbox, sent, draft, just the basics. I cannot add folders. BUT when I go on-line and log into the actual Microsoft outlook.com itself, the layout is different, There I have many more mails; and a folder I had set up in windows 8.1, and all of the other supporting 'things'. Does Windows 10 differ in that it does not support the full functionality if one has an Pop account??? The email groups and layout I want are the ones in outlook.com, not the red icon I log in to.

And, WHY is there no mail icon in the control panel? I've looked under User Accounts, I've searched Mail in the control panel block, and it comes up with no entry. My control panel has no icon on the tool bar.

I hate this outlook; is it me most likely and if so, how can I redo the entire email install (it was pre-installed) as I've only had this computer about a month, and downloaded 10 about a week ago. *Mad

Simple method of blocking e-mails in Outlook (Windows 10)

Additional information:

I have discovered that if I log in to my Outlook e-mail account using Google Chrome, a completely different layout id displayed from that using Start - E-mail app from my Windows 10 desktop.

The layout via Google Chrome DOES have a block option for Junk mail, and is simple to use.

Why on earth doesn't Microsoft provide the same facility when accessing from the Windows desktop? Surely it cannot be beyond the capability of its software engineers to insert the appropriate code?? Microsoft must be concerned about the exposure of children
to be exposed to the filth that is contained in some of these unwanted e-mails.

 

Windows 10 Mail App Focused Problem

Hi Larry,

To turn off the Focused & other feature in the Mail app, please follow the steps below:

• Open your Mail app
• Click on the Settings icon (looks like a gear).
• Click Options, and search for the layout section.
• Under layout, find Focused Inbox. Select Don't sort messages and then hit
  Save.

Yes, the mail account does not fully support all features available in the online version. This will like change as the mail app improves, but for now some important features like folder creation doesn't work. However, if you create a folder online, it should show up in the mail account.

By default, the mail app only syncs mail from the last month. You can change this in the mail account sync settings.
