Mouse and keyboard acting weird/inconsistently

About a year ago, I had a mouse that started double clicking occasionally. Ignored it for a long time, despite it continuously doing it. Fairly close to that same time period, my keyboard also began to occasionally double key press. I've set my keyboard settings so that it shouldn't register same key presses happening in too quick succession, and that mostly solves the issue with the keyboard (though it'll still double key press from time to time).
Recently, I switched back to an older mouse I still had lying around. This one never had double click issues before I replaced it with my newer one, but I'm experiencing double clicks on this one now too. Sometimes, it'll also register left clicks as right clicks. It generally occurs in periods of time. Like sometimes, I can go days or weeks without much issues, while other days it'll double click or right click like crazy all the time.
In the 20+ years I've been working with PC's, this last year has given me more mouse+keyboard issues than all other years put together. Any suggestions?

Summary:
-Got 2 mouses that constantly go through periods of double clicking.
-Mouse sometimes goes through periods of registering left clicks as right clicks.
-Keyboard frequently double key presses.

Disfunctional Mouse

Hello, My wired mouse is a Genius M/N: DX-110 model. It's been working perfectly until yesterday. Today I wiped clean the keyboard while the machine was on, by pressing many keys at random. Then the mouse stopped working! I have restarted the computer, but to no avail. The left button does not function at all. The right button works somewhat like the left button used to be, but it first displays a menu including "open link in new tab/window", etc. So it takes two steps to get to the destination, but then the link does not open by either left or right button and thus I have to use the touch pad key to open it, making three steps procedure in the end. Both the pointer and the central scroll wheel work normally. What has gone wrong? How can I fix it? All suggestions are heartily welcome.

 

Mouse started double clicking on single click file randomly.

Could you please help me with the below questions:

• Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type: winver in start menu and hit enter.)
  
• Does this issue occur on a different mouse?
  

This issue happens, if there is mouse/hardware issue or it can be settings issue. I would suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps as mentioned below:

Method 1: Restore the defaults.

1. Press Windows
   and E key together on your Keyboard.
   
2. Go to View tab on the top.
   
3. Click on Options > Click on Change folder and Search options.
   
4. Click on Restore Defaults.
   Click on Apply and Ok.
   

Method 2: Change the Mouse settings.

1. Click on the Settings icon from the start menu.
   
2. Click on Devices > Click on Mouse from the left panel of the window.
3. Click on Additional Mouse Options from the right pane.
   
4. This will open the Mouse Properties window, go to Buttons tab.
   
5. Under the Double click speed, drag the slider to the left to slow down the double click speed.
   
6. Next, go to Pointer options tab, uncheck the "Enhance Pointer Precision" to
   disable pointer precision to slow down the mouse.
