Windows 10: Why is the search function within the Mail & Calendar app no longer working? Support for...

I have been using the windows Mail & Calendar app for years but today, for some reason the search function no longer works?Even if i search key words from emails I know to have, it says no results. I have already tried resetting and then reinstalling the app. The issue remains.

Calendar, Mail and Search not working

Some Windows functions are not working. So far I have noticed:

• Mail: the app opens and displays the list of emails, but when I click one, it freezes for some seconds and then it crashes.
  
• Calendar: when I click on the time/date on the bottom right of the screen, the calendar does not show up.
  
• Search functionality: clicking windows key + typing does not perform a search. Neither does using the search function in explorer.
  

I suppouse those probems are all related, but haven't found a solution yet.

Any ideas?

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

I would suggest you to try the below methods and check:

Method 1:

• Type Windows Powershell in search box.
• Right click on Windows Powershell and select
  Run as administrator.
• Copy and paste the following command.

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

• Press Enter key.

After uninstalling the Mail app I suggest you to download and install the app again and check.

If you are unable to find Mail and Calendar apps on your computer, try this.



Method 2: You may try to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

• Go to Start menu and then click on Settings.
• Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.
• Select Add an Account.
• Enter a user name and press Next.
• Click on Finish.
• Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
• Check if issue persists.
