Windows 10: Why is the "To go back and save your work, click Cancel and finish what you need to do"...

I rebooted my system earlier Win 11 Home 23H2 and after the desktop disappeared I got the dark background with the text "To go back and save your work, click Cancel and finish what you need to do"There were two buttons, "Restart anyway" and "Cancel"Since this indicated there was something unsaved, I clicked 'Cancel'. And again, and again, and again. Probably 20 times over the course of a minute. Nothing happened. After another couple minutes I clicked 'Restart anyway'. Again nothing happened. I then clicked both buttons about 10x each, nothing happened. I then stepped away from the computer,

Having a Word document which is changed at least once a day on the Phone.

Often it works but sometimes it just drives me crazy:

• Can't upload
• Save changes?
• Can't upload
• Upload status
• Resolve
• Replace item on server

• Upload status (We don't support this authentication scheme. Contact the person who manages this SharePoint site)

restart anyway - cancel buttons both just continue on to shutdown after a longish delay. i have this in the current insider build 14316 and had it in the previous 14295. i too am an 'insider' on the fast track.

still happening, doing a 'repair install' is not an option as it will reset all the policies and registry mods. it is like killing a mosquito with a grenade inside a crowded room. i'd rather just splat the mosquito without destroying the whole room.

there must be a policy, registry entry, or some procedure to close the offending file that prompts the message. something is causing the OS to display this, the message must be stored somewhere , ther must be a timeout setting somewhere. microsoft, please
let us know what to do.

i hope we can get this escalated to a higher level than the 1st line support that has to go thru their checklist and cannot suggest anything better that reinstallation.

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
